Germany captain Bastian Schweinsteiger has all but confirmed he is for the European Championships, after revealing everything is going to plan in his recovery.

The Manchester United midfielder has been sidelined since March after partially tearing his knee ligament while training with his national team.

Schweinsteiger, 31, had been out of action for two months prior to that setback with a knee injury sustained against Sheffield United and it appeared as those though all the setbacks would hamper his summer.

However, Germany boss Joachim Low stuck by the former Bayern Munich midfielder and included him in his provisional squad ahead of the European Championships.

And it appears Schweinsteiger’s road to recovery is going to plan ahead of the tournament in France, after confirming that everything is going well for him.

“I’m fine! I can fulfill the tasks required of me from the Medical Department. It looks good,” Schweinsteiger said at a press conference on Wednesday.

The 2014 World Cup winner has enjoyed a decent debut campaign in England following his summer switch from Bayern Munich and featured heavily prior to his injury problems.

However, it remains to be seen where Schweinsteiger’s future will be in the wake of Louis van Gaal’s sacking, after the club dropped the axe on the 64-year-old on Monday night.
